Meet the designer

Michelle Cobb, Feng Shui Designer and Landscape ArtistLandscape Designer/Artist and Feng Shui Practitioner

Some people refer to me as a tree-hugger.  I used to deny it.  After thinking about it, now I wear my tree-hugger badge proudly. You would never know it by looking at me. I don’t wear the traditional tree-hugger garb. I am cleverly disguised as a yuppie designer chick.  As a young adult, (didn’t think I was young at the time) I lived in Fort Collins, Colorado. I received my degree from Colorado State University, go Rams! Formerly known as the Aggies, CSU is an agricultural school at heart. In college, in Fort Collins, Earth Day truly was all about the Earth. Appropriate. And why not be a tree-hugger? Everyone (and everything) needs a hug now and then…don’t you think?

Since I was a child, I knew I was different. Others didn’t seem to see things the way I did.  When I was about 8 years old, I remember helping my mother in her garden. It was small, just some tomatoes and strawberries. Anyway, I remember looking at one of our landscape boulders and asked, “Mommy, why is that rock upside down?”  She looked at me strangely, looked at the boulder and back at me. “What do you mean?” she asked. “It’s unhappy that way.” I said. It wasn’t until much later in life that I realized that I can ‘see’ things differently than others. I can sense things that aren’t necessarily visible to the average eye.

Incorporating Feng Shui into the mix has brought all of my passions and gifts together so that I truly help my clients improve their spaces. The goal has always been to create a certain feeling in a space. That feeling is expressed by the clients and created with the arrangement of objects, plants, etc. Understanding the energy vibration that all things possess, I am very intentional in my designs/creations.

As a Landscape Artist/Designer and Feng Shui Practitioner, I listen to what my clients need and want, all the while, taking inferences from their homes, the architecture and, perhaps most importantly, the land. Together, they tell me exactly what the space needs.

I pride myself on getting to know my client’s style and personality to help them achieve their ideal goals. The designs have a profound impact on my clients’ lifestyles. I have seen the change to my clients’ quality of life.

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design from Colorado State University, 21 years of commercial and residential Landscape Design experience, completed the CSU Coop. Extension Master Gardener Program and I am certified as a Feng Shui Practitioner through Simplified Interiors.

Dawn, Lakewood

“Just a note and a small token of thanks for all the hard work you put into our gorgeous new yard! You went so above and beyond with your design and then managing this very difficult project. We really appreciate all that you did to make the outcome so perfect. We really love everything and it was just a joy working with you and getting to know you!”

Dave and Annie, Greenwood Village

“After we completed our sunroom addition, I hired Michelle to transform my back yard into a peaceful oasis with Asian touches. I never believed that anyone could so imaginatively and skillfully translate my desires for this space into an actual plan.”

Artists Inspiration

The stones have voices… they speak to us. One only has to listen… to feel.

I am inspired by the stones. As a Landscape Designer, I realized long ago that I can feel the vibrations of stones (boulders). And, as a Feng Shui Practitioner, I learned that everything has energy, a specific vibration. Something that I have felt my entire life but had not yet learned to understand until 2006. I began making Hanging Charms for my Feng Shui clients. I choose to use mostly natural materials (gemstones, metals, wood, etc.) because I recognize that things from the Earth have special and stronger vibrations. It is my belief that everyone should have a piece of nature in their home, office or on their    person. In our technological age, we have separated ourselves from the Earth. It is my intention to provide a piece of that connection to those who need and want it.

When someone is attracted to a specific piece, there’s a reason.

When a person approaches my hand-made charms or jewelry, they immediately connect with a certain piece… a certain stone. Usually they hold  it in their hand as they look at all the others. I notice this and it makes me smile. They are feeling the energy even if on a subconscious level. They may comment on other pieces, but the one in their hand is the one they will take home with them. Seeing that connection is why I do what I do.

The stones speak to me…show me ideas, how they want to be put  together.

When I work with the stones, they give me ideas. I can pick up some stones and images begin to flood my mind. I see Hanging Charms, necklaces,      bracelets…. whatever they wish to be a part of. When I lay out the stones in a pattern of what I wish to make for someone, I sense if it’s the right         arrangement.  When it’s right, I feel it and make the piece.

Each piece is unique, no two are alike.
